Bishop Humphrey elected as head of Church of Pakistan

PESHAWAR: The Synod (Supreme body) of the Church of Pakistan in its 15th triennial meeting, elected Bishop Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters, Bishop of KPK & FATA (Peshawar) and the son of the soil (KPK) as the new head of the entire Church of Pakistan.

The Church of Pakistan is the union of the Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians and the Lutherans who pledged in 1970 to be united and as a result the Church of Pakistan was created. The Church of Pakistan that covers the entire country from Karachi to Khyber has Eight (8) Dioceses led by eight (8) Bishops.

The Diocese of Peshawar is one of the eight (8) dioceses created in 1980. This is the first time in 37 years of the creation of the Diocese of Peshawar that the position of the Head of the Church of Pakistan has come into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The newly elected head of The Church of Pakistan, Bishop Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters is from Bannu, a southern district of KP province and besides religious services he has rendered services in health, education and other social sectors.
