ISLAMABAD: Ali Mustafa Ishaq Dar, son of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, has served a legal notice of Rs 5 billion to Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan asking him (Imran) to tender apology to Dar family within 14 day for allegedly levelling false allegations against them. It said that Khan during his press conference on April 10 had levelled “false” allegations against Ali Dar and tarnished his reputation. “We refute and condemn the baseless charges,” he said in the notice. Khan had alleged that Ali Dar and Mujtaba Hasnain Dar own two towers worth billion of rupees in UAE. “This claim was false and baseless and runs contrary to facts,” the notice said. The legal notice said that Khan’s press conference has damaged reputation of the Dar family. “The business being run by Ali Dar and his brother was in accordance with legal norms. Ishaq Dar has no partnership or share in HDS group. Ali Mustafa Dar and Mujtaba Dar had started business in UAE by obtaining loans and gifts from their father and details in this regard have been mentioned in declaration of assets of Ishaq Dar, which have been filed with Election Commission,” said the notice. According to the notice, “HD Tower in Dunbai is not in the ownership of Dar family, however, a few units of this tower are owned by Dar family.” The legal notice said that it was claimed by Khan that Ishaq Dar owns a bungalow-cum-palace in Dubai while the factual position was that Ishaq Dar had purchased the palace in 2005 at a cost of 900,300 dirham. Loan in this regard was obtained from Tamvail Public Limited firm and Ishaq Dar gifted this palace to Ali Dar in 2013. “Ishaq Dar had earned the money for providing financial services in UAE,” it added The PTI chief has been asked to tender apology within 14 days of receipt of the notice; otherwise Rs 5 billion defamation suit will be filed against him.
