KARACHI: The link of Command and Control Centre (CCC) at Civic Center has been provided to the Central Police Office Command and Control Centre with a view to provide better security to the citizens of the metropolis. As a result, Command and Control Centre setup in Central Police Office (CPO) will also monitor 1240 CCTV cameras installed under the Command of Civic Centre’s Control Room, said a statement on Friday. Special Security Unit (SSU) Commandant Maqsood Ahmed said that due to new arrangements, the surveillance system of whole provincial capital has been put under one umbrella and will be monitored through Command and Control Centre of CPO while Command and Control Centre of Civic Center will continue to function as usual. He said that as a result of these arrangements, the surveillance system can help locate, trace and follow the lawbreakers throughout the city especially crimes committed on streets. He said the efforts are also being made to increase the number of high-resolution CCTV cameras throughout the city of Karachi. He further said that efforts are underway to improve the non-functional cameras and remove other shortcomings. The Central Police Office has already undertaken quality and quantity audit for the cameras supplied earlier and their maintenance, he added
