PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that knowledge and research are the main steps towards peace and development of any nation. He expressed these views while addressing the 2nd Convocation of Abasyn University, Peshawar, on Tuesday. He said education was prerequisite for achieving prosperity and development. The governor distributed 300 degrees among students of different disciplines and levels. Among the other guests, University Chancellor Imran Khan, faculty members and guests from different schools of thoughts also participated. The governor said steps were being taken to ensure the provision of better and higher education facilities to the students, adding that youth should play a constructive role in development of country. He said militancy, lawlessness, and deprivations were not the destiny of our next generation; rather they need favorable environment for a better future. He said that government was making concerted efforts to secure the future of our children. Jhagra appreciated the efforts of the university administration for providing better education environment to the students. He also urged the graduates to play a positive role in constructing the image of the society as a whole. Addressing the convocation, Imran Khan thanked Governor Jhagra for coming to the ceremony, despite his busy schedule. He emphasised that his institute will continue to play its role in betterment of the society and will not compromise on the standards.
