ISLAMABAD: Shaheen Airlines has become a security risk for passengers owing to maladministration, obduracy and sheer negligence of management of this private airline. Despite land crashing and accidents met by its planes during the last six months, this airlines administration has closed eyes towards repair and inspection of their planes deliberately. The management has not even got renewed its license despite repeated warnings by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Sources said Air line protected itself by shifting responsibility of dangerous landing of its plane NL-142 at Lahore airport on November, 3 on its pilot Capt Asmat Mehmood that he was drunk when the plane met accident. Sources told Daily Times that landing gear of this plane was already faulty and when pilot opened landing gear it broke apart which caused the accident. Shaheen Airlines management placed all the responsibility on pilot to save itself. A false blood report was prepared in respect of pilot Capt Asmat Mehmood to prove that he was drunk at the time of accident. A statement was made recorded by other staff of the plane including 5 cabin crew that pilot had gulped liquor. These five cabin crew were given cash prize Rs 100000 each and appreciation letters. According to appreciation letters available with Daily Times the cabin crew who were given Rs 100,000 cash prize each and commendation certificate included Mehreen Khan, Sadia Aslam, Sadia Majeed, Fasiha Zahir and Deeba Akbar. Sources said CAA has grounded 7 Boeing 734-400 planes. According to CAA record Shaheen Airlines Flight NL-721 was to fly to Jeddah with 330 passengers on board on January, 6, 2016 but the pilot refused to fly it at the appointed time due to insertion of hole in cockpits and saved the lives of hundreds of people. Most of the passengers among them were pilgrims. When pilot came to know that airport engineers have not checked the plane fully then he refused to fly it saying this plane will crash soon after its take off. The passengers were informed about delay in the flight after the matter was discussed at length by airport administration and engineering staff. The tyres of Manchester bound burst a day before in Islamabad and the plane had to resort to emergency landing in Karachi. Emergency was declared on Karachi airport. All the passengers remained safe during the landing. Fire tenders were deployed on both sides of run way. Airport was closed down for other flights. According to CAA 150 passengers were on board on the plane. When the plane was flying at low altitude the engineers from control tower inspected its loose wheels. The pilot was directed to make rounds till the next instructions so that the fuel of the plane is spent fully and plane could land safely. Shaheen airlines claimed that tyres of this plane were in order. If the tyres were in workable position then what need was felt to go for emergency landing. The sources said if no action is taken against Shaheen Airlines then a major mishap can occur any time. What can be the reason behind facing the largest number of accidents by Shaheen Airlines.
