Mamta Kulkarni gets another blow, Police seize her bank accounts

Published on: July 31, 2016 9:55 AM

THANE: Mamta Kulkarni, one of the beautiful actresses of the 90’s, resurfaced after many years but not on a good note. Thane Police confirmed her as an accused in one of the biggest drug rackets that was busted one month back. In fact, cops were certain she isn’t a collateral damage but a kingpin of the racket. She was alleged to be drug lord Vicky Goswami’s wife who’s wanted by US Police. Now we hear, Thane Police has sealed all her bank accounts.

A daily newspaper reported that eight of her bank accounts have been seized. They were at Nariman Point, Parel, Dharavi, Malad in Mumbai, Kalyan and Badlapur in Thane, and Bhuj and Rajkot in Gujarat. Cops had called her sister for questioning after they investigated her bank accounts. The daily quoted a Police official saying, “Kulkarni has eight bank accounts in India. One of the banks in Malad has Rs 67 lakh, and the remaining Rs 26 lakh are in other banks. In the past one and half year, she has not conducted any bank transaction. Soon, her properties in India will be seized once we are able to get a court order for the same.”

Cops are also finding out more about her and Goswami’s properties. They are pretty confident that she is the mastermind in the case because apparently, she was ready to become the Managing Director of her husband’s firm, confirming her involvement in the case. They included her name in the third charge sheet that was submitted in the Thane Sessions Court. Her sister is also getting investigated for handling her accounts.

Mamta in an interview had argued that she hates drugs. If she could detach herself from the most basic temptation of life like sex, what are drugs? She even said that Goswami isn’t in the wrong order because if he had, she would have killed him.
