The newly-appointed administrator of Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani held his first press conference at Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) office on Wednesday after assuming office. Shallwani left his first presser midway as Shallwani got angry over the bitter questions of journalists and left without responding to the media’s questions. Shallwani, former Karachi commissioner, took office on Tuesday. To a question regarding getting failed over price hike of common goods as Commissioner Karachi so how would you tackle the situation now? On this newly-appointed administrator got angry and replied that he had arranged the conference as an introductory session, not to discuss what happened in the past.Before leaving Iftikhar Shallwani said, “I took charge yesterday and my duty is very tough. I am thankful for the trust shown in me by the higher officials and will try utmost to perform the duties with the best of my abilities. “I have no relation with politics adding that steps for the betterment of Karachi will be taken”, he assured. The administrator vowed to make Karachi a city of lights again. He said he is a professional civil servant and has nothing to do with politics and intends to perform the tasks assigned to him honestly, asking the media personnel present there to not pose any political question.Shallwani has served as the Karachi commissioner for two years. He was appointed as commissioner in October 2018. On August 25, 2020 he replaced Roshan Sheikh as the local government secretary.
