Future of hundreds at stake due to undue delay in IELTS result

Published on: August 7, 2016 1:36 AM

ISLAMABAD: British council has risked the future of hundreds of candidate due to mismanagement in announcement of IELTS examination result.

Hundreds of candidates appeared in IELTS General Examinations on July 16 in Islamabad and other cities of Pakistan and the IELTS conducting body is bound to issue results within thirteen days. “Candidates are trying a lot to see their result online or get the hard copy of card”.

A student from Islamabad, talking to Daily Times said, “I appeared in IELTS General Examinations on July 16, and I was expecting that I would be able to see my result on July 29 but on the above mentioned date when I tried to open the result my all the efforts proved unproductive.”

“I called to the concerned authorities and they responded that British Council and Cambridge University have developed some sort of problem in this regard; therefore, they have withheld the result of number of students in Pakistan and other counties,” he added.

He further said, “I need the IELTS results immediately because I got a work permit and I have to apply for Visa in Embassy but due to their incompetency, I could not be able to apply for visa.

One student from Britain told Daily Times that he also appeared in IELTS General Examinations on July 16, and he has seen the Online Result but some days later, when he tried to open the link again, it was not opening and the British Council has not sent the Result Card on his address.

When Daily Times contacted British Council Authorities in Pakistan to ascertain their stance, they said that Cambridge University has withheld the IELTS Results and university authorities are not informing them about the reason behind non announcement of result but BC is trying a lot to redress the grievances of students.

It is worth mentioning here that the British Council organizes every year lot of IELTS tests both in Academic and General training and hundreds and thousands of students apply for it. Furthermore it is collecting twenty five thousand IELTS test fee for one exam.
