A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges was held in Islamabad on Friday. The committee unanimously confirmed the minutes of its previous meeting held on 5-3-2020. The committee offered Fateha on the death of the father of Mr. Armaghan Subhani, MNA/member of the committee. The committee extended the time period of one month of the sub-committee under the Convenership of Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhary MNA.. The committee on the suggestions given by a Member of the National Assembly Mr. Riaz Fatyana, MNA regarding provision of vehicles, provision of personal staff policy and personal assistants, naib qasids and drivers to the chairmen of the standing committees, recommended to forward this matter to the speaker for kind consideration. On the other point of view of Mr. Riaz Fatyana, MNA, regarding medical treatment of the Members of Parliament, decided to hold a meeting on this agenda and to invite Secretary M/o Health, E.D. PIMS, and E.D, Policlinic to brief the Committee on it. The committee, due to the absence of the mover, pended the amendment moved by Shazia Marri, MNA till its next meeting. On the Question of Privilege of Mr.Atta Ullah, MNA against K-Electric, the Committee after hearing the view point of representatives of K-Electric, disposed off the Question of Privilege. However, the Hon. Mover did not attend the meeting. The Committee pended the other Question of Privilege of Mr. Atta Ullah, MNA regarding Water Board, Karachi and directed that the summon should be issued to M.D Water Board Karachi for not attending the meeting and he should ensure his attendance in the next meeting of the Committee. On the issue of SOPs regarding providing security to the Hon. Parliamentarians, the Committee directed that the security given to the un-entitled person should be taken back. The Committee directed that the Secretary, M/o Interior should have a joint meeting with the Home Secretaries and Inspectors General of Police of all the Provinces, and should make a proper mechanism in this regard for providing security to the Hon. Parliamentarians and report to the Committee within fifteen days. The Committee disposed of both the Questions of Privileges of Mr. Abdul Majeed Niazi, MNA on his written request who could not attend the meeting. However, the concerned Police Officers attended the meeting. The Committee disposed of the Question of Privilege of Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khokhar, MNA against SNGPL, Lahore. The Committee pended both the Questions of Privileges of Mr. Murtaza Javed Abbasi, MNA against SNGPL. The Committee directed that the sitting MNAs should not be ignored by the Officers and due respect should be given them. The Committee directed that the M/o Petroleum and OGRA should enhance the amount of the ongoing projects at least 20 billion rupees. The committee also directed that the permanent charge of M.D,SNGPL should be given to the acting M.D, SNGPL. The Committee pended the Question of Privilege of Ch. Muhammad Hamid Hameed, MNA against Pakistan Cricket Board and directed that in the next meeting of the Committee, the M/o IPC should give a detailed briefing on the Sports Federations in Pakistan. The Committee also decided to invite Mr. Shuaib Akhtar, Mr. Shahid Afridi, Mr. Javed Miandad and Mr. Rashid Latif, the Ex-Test Cricketers in the next meeting of the Committee. The Committee pended the Questions of Privileges of Mr. Fawad Ahmed, Minister for Science and Technology and Dr. Haider Ali, MNA. The Committee pended the Question of Privilege of Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, MNA till its next meeting and directed that the PIA should arrange refresher courses for its employees regarding code of conduct/ethics while dealing with the public. The Committee also directed the PIA management to have a meeting with the Hon. Mover, resolve his grievances and report to the Committee in its next meeting. The Committee pended the Question of Privilege of Mr. Ali Nawaz Shah, MNA with the direction that all concerned in this Question of Privilege should attend the next meeting of the Committee in person. On the issue of preparation of a draft Bill regarding contempt of Parliament by the M/o Parliamentary Affair, the Committee considered it a best move and pended it for further deliberations in its next meeting.
