Kenyan man arrested with weed chapati

Published on: January 25, 2020 11:22 AM

A Kenyan chapati maker has been arrested by authorities after being found with chapatis that allegedly contained marijuana. This was in a bid to have the authorities legalize the drug. In Kenya, the use of cannabis is still deemed illegal by law.

The yet-to-be identified man surprised many by this unique invention as weed has been known to take on many forms, but that of chapatis is new to many. Marijuana has been a recipe in confectioneries such as cake, cookies as well as candy and the trend of marijuana usage has been growing especially among the youthful population.

In Kenya alone, this is not the first time someone is making a move to have the drug legalized as the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth had tabled a bill in Parliament to have the drug legalized citing the medicinal value of the plant. He alleged that the drug could cure seizures, help with relaxation, and kill breast cancer among others.

Notably, several countries have allowed the use of marijuana in the medical front. Specific states in the US have adopted the drug as an anesthetic during surgeries. The dreaded drug is also freely used in some parts of the superpower nation. A recent analysis found that the sale of the golden drug in a US border had risen by a whopping 420%.
