Call for integration of FATA and KP

Published on: October 3, 2016 12:41 AM

PESHAWAR: The Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, has called for the immediate integration of FATA and KP in order to put an end to the exploitation of Pakhtoons in the tribal belt. The chairman univocally stated that political parties should not politicise the matter for political gains and should unite for the rights of the people of the tribal belt. These views were stated by the chairman while addressing a mass gathering at a joining ceremony in Khazana area of District Peshawar.  A prominent figure and leader of Khazana area, Tanweer Khan, announced joining the QWP during the ceremony. The chairman clarified that the tribal people had rendered numerous sacrifices during the creation of Pakistan and were still fighting for the country but no steps had been taken for the development of FATA. He called for immediate, planned and sustainable efforts for the development would be possible after integrating FATA with KP. He stated that the people of FATA had decided to join KP and now steps should be taken to realise the decision without any delay. The chairman also criticised the prime minister for his indifferent attitude towards the smaller provinces and stated that the PM’s promises to put an end to load shedding by 2018 were only limited to Punjab. He further clarified that such a step motherly treatment was only promoting consternation among the people of the smaller provinces. “Because of the outdated system of power supply and transmission lines, it is impossible to end load shedding in KP due to which the province will not be able to reap the benefits of CPEC. This is a planned conspiracy intended to deprive the people of KP from the development projects of CPEC and we will take up the issue at every forum and will continue to fight for the rights of Pakhtoons.” He added. The chairman also appealed to the international community to take notice of the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and the cease fire violations done by the Indian armed forces. He stated that the conflict between India and Pakistan should be solved by using diplomatic channels and dialogue and that war between the countries will deprive the entire region from development.
