PML-Q to sail with the captain

Published on: October 22, 2016 3:32 AM

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has formally announced its unconditional support to Imran Khan and instructed its workers to participate in the sit-in of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on November 2 in Islamabad.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi told the PML-Q General Council meeting in Islamabad, after the intra party elections, that Imran Khan was the country’s last hope to get rid of corruption. It may be mentioned here that the party leaders and workers elected Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain as the party’s president for the tenure of four years on Friday. Chaudhry Shujaat is currently abroad for medical treatment.

Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed was not present on the occasion, as there are rumours that he has completed his homework to rejoin the ruling PML-Nawaz. The meeting authorised Chaudhry Shujaat to nominate different office-bearers of the party, including the new secretary general, upon his return to the country. Some party workers raised a point that the PTI had not invited them to join the sit-in, on which Pervaiz Elahi said it was not a “marriage party for which we should wait for an invitation card”. “It is a matter of changing the system, and the PML-Q will participate in it unconditionally to get rid of the corrupt rulers.”
