The 36th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament, endorsed by Millat Tractors, came to a stirring and enlivening end at the Lahore Gymkhana Club Golf Course after three rounds of engaging and absorbing competition here Sunday. And the competitor who prevailed over his desiring contenders was Qasim Ali Khan, an upcoming and golfing expertise loaded one of the host club Lahore Gymkhana. In the final third round, it was a fierce duel between Rizwan Raees Khan, Omer Zia, Hussain Atta and Qasim. And all through the final eighteen holes the winning tilt remained balanced and determining the winner was virtually impossible. It was at the eighteenth hole that Qasim managed to secure victory and glory for himself through a brilliant regulation par. In the ultimate reckoning Qasim became a victor with a three rounds aggregate score of 213 while Omer Zia had to be content with the runner-up position as his score was 214, one stroke behind the champion Qasim. Third position was secured by Rizwan Raees Khan, the overnight leader. He also had an aggregate score of 214, a score similar to that attained by Omer. But as per rules Omer was awarded the runner-up position as he had a better score in the final eighteen holes. In the race for gross honours, the successful one was Hussain Hamid of Royal Palm. Playing with assurance, Hussain applied his golfing skills adequately well and with a three rounds aggregate score of 232 ensured the first gross for himself The second gross went to Zunair Aleem Khan of Raya Defence. His three rounds score was 234. Kamran Khan of Lahore Gymkhana came third in the gross event. His three rounds score was 237. At the conclusion of the tournament, the winners were honoured by Chaudhary Muhammed Sarwar, Governor Punjab, accompanied by Sikandar Mustafa Khan, Chairman Millat Tractors, Kamran Lashari, Chairman Lahore Gymkhana, Shaukat Javed, Convenor Golf, and the audience included members committee of management, participating golfers and golf lovers.
