Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over an important meeting at his office on Wednesday in which provincial housing secretary gave a detailed briefing on progress of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme. The chief minister directed to submit a feasible plan for the provision of houses to low-income stratum as soon as possible within the next two weeks. He also directed to immediately constitute a committee adding that coordinated planning should be made for public sector business model and social housing. Housing policy for low-income segment should be devised on a priority basis, he added. The chief minister disclosed that houses would be constructed in collaboration with the private sector for the people living below the poverty line. He appealed to the philanthropists and donors to play their role in this regard and directed to complete the project as soon as possible. Provincial housing minister Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, finance minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, advisor Dr Salman Shah, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, secretaries of housing and finance departments and others attended the meeting. Meeting with Senator Aurangzeb Senator Aurangzeb Khan called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office on Wednesday. Talking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Pakistan belongs to all of us and everyone should play its positive role for national development. Pakistan is going through a critical phase and it is time to promote national unity. Keeping in view the prevailing Kashmir situation, the politics of agitation is not suitable in anyway. He said that politics of chaos is not in the interest of the country as anti-state elements could try to take benefit in the garb of agitation. He said that all are respectable but no one will be allowed to play with the life and property of the people. Law will come into action in case of any dereliction of law. He said that full attention is being paid to solve the problems of the common man and basic amenities are being improved to facilitate the people. He further said that every moment of the government is reserved for public welfare. Senator Aurangzeb Khan commended the Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for introducing holistic reforms and taking steps for the betterment of the common man and added that Usman Buzdar has taken a number of steps for bringing improvements in the lives of the common man. Usman Buzdar has focused his attention on the solution of problems of the masses and he is moving forward the journey of public service with commitment, passion and hard work, he added. Message on World Polio Day Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that World Polio Day provides us with an opportunity to reiterate the commitment of working with renewed energies for the elimination of polio from the society. In his message, the chief minister said that polio-free Pakistan is our mission and all resources are being utilized to provide a safe and secure future to the children. He said that Punjab government is running a vigorous awareness campaign to strengthen anti-polio efforts. Usman Buzdar said that Punjab’s role is very important in the elimination of polio adding that complete overcoming on polio is the priority agenda of the government. The government is using all-out resources to eliminate polio and no stone will be left unturned so that Pakistan could become a polio-free country, he added. He said that children could be saved from this fatal disease through timely vaccination and adoption of continued anti-polio steps is the collective responsibility of the society. Usman Buzdar said that mosques, seminaries, schools and line departments should jointly work to make the anti-polio campaign a success. He also appealed to the parents to become part of government efforts aimed at the elimination of polio disease from society. Today, all the segments of the society should reiterate the commitment that every effort will be made to make Pakistan polio-free, concluded the chief minister. Azadi March Buzdar also said that politics of chaos was not in the interest of anyone. He said law would be enforced if someone tried to breach the law and order situation in the name of Azadi March. He said politics of protests is not affordable taking in view the current situation in Occupied Kashmir. He said anti Pakistan elements can take advantage of the situation. He said we all must play our positive role for the progress of the country. He said we respect all but no one would be allowed to create chaos. Punjab Police has prepared a strategy to stop the march. Additional personnel have been deployed while police force in Rawalpindi is being trained to deal with March. Orange Line Train Buzdar also presided over a high-level meeting at CM Office in which Orange Line Metro Train project was reviewed. He was given briefing regarding the project and its maiden run on trial basis by electricity. He was informed during the briefing that work on 13 stations from Dera Gujran to Anarkali has been completed and orange line metro train will become operational from Dera Gujran to Anarkali from 28th of October. Its test trial for running on electricity will be conducted for the first time. He was further briefed that work on 11 stations will be completed by early November and after completion of work on these stations, test trial for running of orange line metro train by electricity on the complete track will be conducted. Chief Minister Punjab will be the chief guest during launching ceremony of orange line train on test trial. Usman Buzdar directed to make operational said project for the benefit of people as soon as possible and maintained that fare of train will be fixed up to purchasing power of common man. Hopefully people will be able to travel on train in the month of January, concluded Usman Buzdar. Provincial Minister Transport Jehanzeb Khan Khitchi, Principal Secretary to CM, officials of Punjab Mass Transit Authority, DG LDA and concerned officers participated in the meeting.
