KARACHI: School Education Department, Sindh, has directed all district education directors to prepare teachers’ rationalization to reopen 6,107 schools and identify ghost teachers. “The concerned directors are requested to prepare a proposal for teacher rationalization as this will resolve the issue of temporary closed schools and also reports from monitoring officers indicating absent and absconders’ teachers is shared with respective districts, director so that they are able to take necessary action against them”, sources told Daily Times. According to sources, the school education department is taking all necessary measures to improve education system by bringing concerned officers from the districts on board. In this regard, a series of meetings have been planned being arranged on daily basis from November 3, 2016 and will continue till December 15, 2016. Director School Education, District Education Officer (Primary/Elementary/ Secondary) and TEOs (Primary/Elementary/ Secondary) from all districts are attending these meetings. Each district has been asked to submit a proposal and other required information within a one week’s time for fast tracking decision making process. The sources said out of total 46,480 schools, some 6,107 schools are closed in the province since long however no one is ready to reopen these schools to produce heroes of the nation. In Sindh’s urban areas, the male literacy rate is 85 percent and female literacy rate is 70 percent, however in rural Sindh the figures are 58 percent for males and 23 percent for females. According to official statistics available with Daily Times, there are some 6,107 schools have been closed since long with a total number of schools at 46,480. There are a total of 2,105 schools in district Dadu of which 186 are closed; Badin 3,064 schools (277closed); Ghotki 1998 schools (139 closed); Hyderabad 943 schools (30 closed); Jacobabad 1469 schools (76closed); Jamshoro 819 schools (143 closed); Kamber-Shahdadkot 1631 schools (206 closed); Karachi 3301schools (201 closed); Kashmore-Kandhkot 1495schools (291 closed); Khairpur 3470 schools (337closed); Larkana 1190 schools (17 closed); Mirpurkhas 2167 schools (359 closed); Matiyari 926 schools (81closed); Naushehro Feroz 2316 schools (210 closed); Sanghar 3022 schools (362 closed); Nawabshah 2677schools (383 closed); Shikarpur 1327 schools (296closed); Sujawal 1666 schools (393 closed); Sukkur 1276 schools (76 closed); Tando Allahyar 836 schools(101 closed); Tando Muhammad Khan 999 schools(188 closed); Tharparkar 4045 schools (973 closed); Thatta 1438 schools (260 closed) and Umerkot 2300schools and 523 closed.
