Box office success ‘Teefa in Trouble’ clocks one year

On this very day in 2018, ‘Teefa in Trouble’ was released in cinemas across Pakistan. The film, released on July 20 last year, grossed 50 crores on box office and won the Best Film Actor and Best Film Director awards at the Lux Style Awards. Actor and singer Ali Zafar in his Tweet expressed gratitude towards his fans for their support, saying that the film had been released during a difficult time of his life. “I fought the battles to the best of my abilities both off/on screen resting my faith in you all and Him. Rest in history,” the actor said.

‘Teefa in Trouble’ holds many merits to its credits, such as being the biggest opening day of all times despite being released on a non-Eid holiday and the highest grossing film of all times in the same category. This was also the first non-Indian film that was distributed internationally by the prestigious Yash Raj Films and the third Pakistani film to have crossed the Rs 50 crores mark. The film also hold the record of highest number of hits on YouTube for any Pakistani film with almost 33 million collective hits on the songs and boasts the ever green melodies written and composed by Ali Zafar. The cast of film included, Ali Zafar Maya Ali, Javed Sheikh, Faisal Qureshi, Mehmood Aslam, Nayyar Ijaz, Asma Abbas, Sofia Khan, Mahenur Haider and Seemi Raheel. Teefa in Trouble recently won two awards at the Lux Style Awards.

Ali Zafar won the Best Film Actor Award, while Ahsan Rahim won the Best Film Director award for Teefa in Trouble.

‘Teefa in Trouble’ was the first Pakistani film of Ali Zafar who has worked in seven Bollywood films in lead roles opposite Bollywood divas such as Katrina Kaif, Parineeti Chopra, Yami Gautum, Taapsee Pannu, Aditi Rao Hydari and Alia Bhatt. He starred in several classic hits such as ‘Tere Bin Laden’, ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’, ‘Chashme Baddoor’, ‘Kill Dil’, ‘London Paris New York’ and ‘Dear Zindagi’ which is the highest for any Pakistani actor.
