KP govt, private schools agree on 5th class exam by BISE

Published on: January 4, 2017 11:00 PM

PESHAWAR: After long discussion the Khyber Pakhtukhwa (KP) Government and Private Education Institutions agreed on the 5th Class Assessment Test conducted under the umbrella of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP).

The registration of around 74,496 students for 5th classes assessment test completed, students of private and government schools will appear for the test yet be announced by the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Peshawar.

As per the BISEP official record more than 95 per cent of private and government schools of district Peshawar, Charssadda, Chitral, Nowsehra, Khyber Agency and FR Peshawar will participate in the class 5th assessment test.

Talking to Daily Times, the Chairman of BISEP Dr Muhammad Shafi Afridi claimed that a few private schools are still resisting the government for conducting the test and its procedure despite of lengthy hours of consultation.

He said that some of the private schools and their owners denying the stance of the government without presenting any logical reason and therefore did not register for the test but their numbers are very limited. However, he said that stern action would be taken against those entire private schools who will reject the policy of the government and did not attend the assessment test of students.

Dr Muhammad Shafi shared the official record of the BISP that around 39,066 students of government and private schools from Peshawar, 5100 students from Khyber Agency, 17,083 students from Charssada, 3503 students of Mohamand Agency 8463 students of Chitral and 1272 students of the FR Peshawar will participate in the test as per the government schedule.

The parents and schools teachers have been urged to visit the official website of the BISP before appearing in the test as assessment test would be based on Students Learning Outcomes (SLO).

Controller of BISEP Hameed Ullah Jan told this scribe that assessment will purely base on the underline methodology of the SLOs and stress has been made over the analytical approach. He said that the aim of the test to curb the practice of memorization practice in our schools and stress has been made in the preparation of the paper to prepare students to attempt the paper with their logical approach.

There was no pass and fail concept behind the assessment test the sole purpose of the assessment to test to analyze the standard of the class five students so the government work on future curriculum he added.

“In fact this assessment is based on the best international practices which has pre-define marking guideline and give no liberty to examiner to award marks,” Dr Muhammad Shafi maintained.
