Pakistan’s defence industry has become a valuable source of foreign exchange, with several countries showing interest in purchasing Pakistani fighter jets. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb made the remarks during his budget speech. He said the development reflects growing global recognition of Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
The finance minister said the success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos marked a significant chapter in the country’s history. He stated that Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression in May 2025 enhanced the country’s international standing. According to him, the operation demonstrated the professionalism and preparedness of Pakistan’s armed forces.
Aurangzeb said many countries are now interested in acquiring fighter aircraft used to protect Pakistan’s airspace. He added that the defence sector is no longer only a strategic asset. It is also contributing to economic growth through potential export opportunities and foreign exchange earnings.
He further said Pakistan has emerged as a country whose voice is heard internationally. The minister noted that the armed forces delivered a strong response to the enemy, forcing it to seek de-escalation within hours. He credited this achievement with strengthening Pakistan’s global reputation.
The finance minister also highlighted defence cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He said the strategic defence agreement has further strengthened bilateral ties. According to Aurangzeb, the partnership carries both honour and responsibility for Pakistan.
