Fahad Mustafa, Mehwish Hayat starrer ‘Load Wedding’ nominated at Indian film festival

Published on: January 14, 2019 2:00 AM

2018’s ‘Load Wedding’ was a light romantic comedy with elements of societal issues thrown into it. Starring Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat the film showcased issues like domestic and societal problems which are relatable and quite realistic in today’s time of a “modern” Pakistan. A boy get getting permission to marry of choice owing to an insecure mother and sister, a mother not being able to wed her daughter off because of insufficient funds for dowry, a widowed girl considered to be bad luck in the village, a chubby girl constantly getting body shamed. ‘Load Wedding’ portrayed these issues well and in good humour and an impact. The film performed quite well at the local box office and also made waves across the border by being nominated for Best Feature at the recent Jaipur Film Festival. And now, it has bagged a nomination at yet another Indian film festival: Load Wedding will be competing in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the upcoming Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) as well.

The good news was made official by Filmwala Pictures on their social media. “Filmwala Pictures is proud to announce the nomination of Load Wedding in the category of Best Feature Film at the Rajasthan International Film Festival,” the film’s production team wrote on Facebook. RIFF is a new organisation in the arena of international films, making endeavours towards imparting a novel identity to the world cinema, such as conducting film festivals every year. This year, the event is scheduled to commence on January 19 and will go on until January 23. Coming back to ‘Load Wedding’, one has to hand it over to director Nabeel Qureshi for executing his vision for the film with praiseworthy direction techniques and serious hard work and passion to make the film at par with international standards.
