Sindh Minister for Women Development Syeda Shehla Raza urged the philanthropists to come forward and collaborate with the provincial government for the welfare and rehabilitation of differently abled people. This she said while addressing the Annual Awards 2018 of Aagosh Trust, Shelter Home for unassisted handicapped women orgnised at a local hotel on Wednesday. Syeda Shehla offered her full support and assistance to all nongovernmental organisations (NGOs). She said , “We have 1200 different NGO’s working for the rehabilitation of differently abled people. These organizations had to spring into existence because we have failed in looking after our patrons and elders.” Speaking of differently abled people, the minister said that they should not be referred to as special persons but should be called differently abled persons. “Differently abled people have talents and capabilities,” she said and added that the provincial government and Women Development Department were committed to supporting them in rehabilitation, legal assistance, health and empowerment. “We are continuously providing legal support, education and health facilities through different positive initiatives,” he added. Earlier Haji Masood Parekh, Yahya Polani, ShakilBaig, Attequeur Rehman and Shagufta Saba, president Aagosh Trust highlighted the services by the Trust and philanthropists individually for the rehabilitation of shelter less handicapped women and senior women. They said that the institute had been providing essential education and income generating skills to the deserving and needy children and women since 2003. Later, the minister told newsmen that the PTI government should work for the welfare of people and take positive initiatives for the public. “PTI should continue public welfare programmes like BISP and lead the country to prosperity,” she said. “They should resolve the issues and protect public interest in their policies. WDD is planning many positive and concrete projects for the women,” she concluded. Famous members of the business community and renowned philanthropists including Haji Masood Parekh, M. Yahya Polani, Ateeque u Rehman, Senetor Abdul Haseeb Khan, ShakilBaig, Kamran Chandna, Nadeem Wassani, A.K. Memon and President Aagosh Trust Shaugufta Saba attended the ceremony.
