KARACHI: Despite clear restraining orders on mutation of state land by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Sindh government has relocated at least 38 acres of land from a small goth to Malir district, Daily Times has learnt.

According to sources, the authorities at the Board of Revenue, Government of Sindh has relocated the bigger piece of land from Kawasti Brohi Goth district Central, Karachi causing a loss of billions of rupees to the provincial exchequer besides violating the apex court’s orders.

The sources say that Kawasti Brothi goth was situated a few kilometers away from the North Nazimabad area while the developers of the goth approached the revenue authorities for relocation of the land.

“Now, the 38 acres of land has been relocated to Deh Khaara of Malir district for the developers of the goth. The market value of the allotted land is more than Rs 1 billion.

In March 2016, the Supreme Court had restrained the Malir Development Authority (MDA) and the Sindh Board of Revenue from allotting, transferring or carrying out any transaction pertaining to government land. The court had also sought a report from the senior member of Sindh Board of Revenue regarding the allotment of the land of 43 dehs (villages) by MDA.

It is also permanent to mention that the Transparency International Pakistan has been following a number of cases regarding allotment of 871 acres along Malir River, 300 acres along Clifton Beach, 300 acres in Nooriabad and 5,222 acres in Thatta.
