An expatriate woman Saturday moved Supreme Court against Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat, who allegedly failed to deliver possession of a piece of land in Bani Gala despite receiving the agreed amount some two decades back. In her application, Sajida Mohsin Baqai claimed that Raja Basharat committed a breach of trust and fraud as he failed to transfer the title and possession of the sold land in her name. Giving details, she said Raja entered into an agreement with her to sell 20 kanals of land in various khasras in village Mohra Noor in Bani Gala after receiving an amount of Rs 1.8 million two decades back but failed to transfer the title and possession of the land. Baqai said after the death of her husband, she settled in the US. She said a civil court has already issued decree in her favor, adding that she also launched an FIR against Raja. “I am baffled by a number of provisions in our laws which not only help delay justice but virtually deny justice to a widow like me. Now, Raja Basharat has become law minister of the largest province of Pakistan, and apparently my chances of getting justice have diminished further,” she submitted. The applicant said she has suffered a huge financial and psychological loss at the hands of Raja. “Your Lordship kindly help me in securing my land from Raja Basharat or alternatively recover my money with profit under the law,” she requested the chief justice in her application.
