Sir: The menace of beggary has pierced into the roots of our social life. As it is the easiest way of earning, it has turned into a flourishing business. Although it is a condemnable act, yet a great number of people are involved in it in our society. It is therefore, one can easily find them at every nook and corner on the way, one can’t escape their pleadings for alms. They know the art of exploiting the situation. They trap their victims by using different means and force them to draw out money by arising sympathies. If these beggars happen to get around you, while placing order to eat something in your car, they start appealing for the same meal. They keep knocking on the windows. Their greedy looks, their miserable hungry gestures make your dine so painful as if you are involved in some sinful act. You can neither push them away nor can use some harsh words with them as it seems to be an immoral act. Thus it is not easy to get out of their clutches. Beggar problem in Pakistan has become very complicated due to the fact that there is no check on this worthless job. It has declined the moral of whole society. There should be proper ban on beggars, only deserving people should be given alms and charity. I would request the concerned authorities to take some strict action against this vicious deed which is eating away our moral standards like parasites.
