Sir: As time goes by the hassle free world full of bloom and greenery has altered its identity into heaps of garbage filled with smashed cans, wrappers, plastic bottles and bags choking the drainage system. The alluring scenery of world is now drowning into the mounds of trash, littering everywhere leading us to piles of rubbish, this has become a big main concern and a hot topic of today’s life. We can’t attribute this problem to any specific country of globe as we all are facing this disastrous situation that is created by none another but the most humorous creation of world known as “Human Being”. Materials that impair the purity of environment can be classified as pollution. Garbage causes pollution and this pollution transpire when wastage instead of wrapped into bin bags are being dumped by every citizen at public place that without getting any attention remain there for months and months and no one even bother to clean up that dross, as day passes its get rotten, spreading unpleasant smell and poisonous gases into the surrounding. Almost out of 100 at least 98 items in trash somehow contain plastic to some or large extent in their manufacturing process, well it depends. It is estimated that plastic material takes 1000 years to decompose where as a glass takes a span of 1 million years, just think about its consequences. Garbage is choking our world, around 2.12 billion tons of wastage generated yearly that if every truck filled with garbage was placed end-to-end, it almost cover half the distance to the moon. A jumble of papers, tins, disposable material, plastic bags and bottles came into existence when no one is interested to takes the accountability to bring change when process of littering starts from one person and the chain tends to continue, with passage of time from a single wrapper it turns out into a mound of garbage. The increasing rate of waste generation can be attributed to lot of manufacturing industries that only cares about profit making and not about the mother nature. Ignorance, lack of creativity and education among populous. According to research, yearly 1.4 billion of trash end up into our beautiful oceans, that’s a very disturbing fact but truth that can’t be ignore. Littering, accumulation of waste circulates poisonous particles, this not only affect the environs of globe but also leads to severe diseases like typhoid, respiratory diseases causes cancer, retardation and brain damage in children. Dumping different types of wastage into water badly affects the aquatic life, beautiful lakes, wetlands and up with stock of garbage that fouls the water also burning it up at public place have dangerous impact upon living creatures the smoke leads to ultimate death of plants and stops their reproduction. According to WHO report, each year 3 million dead came into scene due to pollution. In 2015, around 9 million deaths were recorded and the reason was pollution cause by garbage. An estimated 1 million birds and 10,000 marine mammals die because they strangle with plastic materials that we throw out in ocean without thinking about how dreadfully it harms other creatures. Change is a constant phenomena of life and if one’s want to survive successfully then change in necessary. To cope up with this situation many countries came up with the idea of implementation of 3R’s which consist of reduce, reuse, recycle. The practice of these 3 R’s is widely accepted as environmental pollution as become a big issue these nation embrace the change and apply some motivation tactics to encourage the populous. For protecting the mother nature Beijing introduced special kind pf ticket for the passenger traveling through bus they accept plastic bottle as payment, Surabaya passenger pays for the transport system by simply with recycling their products and get opportunity to travel for two hours free of cost, Istanbul takes one step forward as citizens swap plastic wastage for credit on their metro card, Germany bestow citizen with 25 cents for recycling each plastic bottle whereas Sydney inaugurated high technology vending machine for which people exchange recycling for reward like bus or a movie ticket. These nations espouse the implementation of 3 R’s with the goal to conserve the globe form hazardous toxic waste and serve the community in better way. Talking about the scenario of Pakistan, the country lacks in above mention practice and creativity. Pakistan rank as 6th populated country of world. The condition of Pakistan is getting worse day by day if we talk in terms of garbage disposal system. According to research, around 97 percent content in landfills consist of municipal waste and nearly 20 million tons of wastage generated annually which leads to 5 million deaths because of contamination and toxic trash, that is really a alarming situation for the country. Foul smell from gutter, littering all over streets, improper drainage system and ineffective disposal system cause a great extent destruction to the mother land. The above article present the situation regarding garbage problem which currently being faced by whole world, this problem is root into environ due to littering, pile of trash burn at public places, dumping everywhere without thinking about a second the consequences bear by living creations. The quality of environment is under extreme stress.
