Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz on Monday dismissed the reports of any ‘underhand deal’ being worked out with the establishment, adding that his party was not mulling over forming the government in Punjab. “Everything will be decided in a transparent manner. There will be no underhand deals,” he told reporters, adding that the PML-N will continue to play the role of a strong opposition. “We are not thinking of forming government in Punjab. Let us not discuss this … let us enjoy being part of the opposition.” Lashing out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government over its performance, Hamza remarked, “What has this government done apart from auctioning buffaloes. This government keeps going back on its words. They had earlier claimed they won’t raise gas and electricity tariffs but later went ahead and did the same. Why are lies being propagated everywhere?” The PML-N leader said those who formed the government on a stolen mandate will be exposed soon. “Opening the governor house for public and converting the prime minister house into a library won’t solve the issues faced by 220 million people,” he said. “We just want to expose the rigging that took place in the election. Even vendors on the street say they voted for PML-N and express their surprise at them [PTI] coming to power,” he said. “Those who would speak against Nawaz Sharif are now themselves being subjected to mockery,” he added. “Nawaz respected the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court verdict and left his ailing wife to return to the country with his daughter, and went to jail,” Hamza said. Commenting on the Senate election for a vacant seat, he said his party was all set to contest the polls. “Our politics is not aimed at coming to power,” he said. “PML-N respects democracy.” Published in Daily Times, October 4th 2018.
