‘Missing Ronaldo’, Twitter reacts to Real Madrid’s UCL loss

Published on: October 3, 2018 12:39 PM

Real Madrid suffered an uncharacteristic defeat in the UEFA Champions League group stage against Russian club CKSA Moskva as its front-line failed to offer much.

The defending champions lost 1-0 away from home as Nikola Vlasic scored an early goal in the second minute of the game which proved enough for the hosts. Despite enjoying 73 percent of possession, Madrid failed to produce anything significant. The club attempted 26 goals with only 4 on target.

Forwards Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema fell flat, while the entire team looked a little out of touch. Does this mean Real Madrid are missing Cristiano Ronaldo, at least during tough games? Madrid goal-keeper Keylor Navas thinks so.

“Cristiano left the bar very high at Real Madrid. You cannot cover the sun with a finger,” Navas said in a post-match interview. He, however, added that Ronaldo is part of Madrid’s history and that they do not live in the past.

Like Navas, Twitter too believes that Real Madrid lack the firepower that Ronaldo offered.

‘Moscow would be defending out of fear of Ronaldo and this would not have happened’

‘Maybe Real Madrid are missing Ronaldo’ but club president Florentino Perez is also missing out on opportunities to sign quality players as replacement.

‘There is something missing from Madrid this season’.

Interesting. Real Madrid have failed to score in three consecutive games for the first time in a decade.

‘What was that about us not missing Cristiano Ronaldo? Today we were a joke. Not even a draw.’

Sarcasm alert.

Three consecutive games without scoring a single goal. Real Madrid do not seem like they’re missing Ronaldo at all! Not surprising given that they still have the best player in the world.

It is clear that Real Madrid are not having the best of times, but are they really missing Cristiano Ronaldo? Write in the comments section below
