Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi of Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the city district government to restore historic buildings on Mall Road according to the original plans of 1921. The judge directed the government to continue its drive against illegal constructions on Mall Road in letter and spirit and book those resisting the operation under Anti-Terrorism Law. The judge observed that no more violation of building laws in commercial buildings on Mall Road would be tolerated. The judge was hearing a petition moved by local traders against oversized hoardings and encroachment on Mall Road. Petitioners counsel said that the concerned authorities had removed oversized hoardings on Mall Road in compliance with the orders. He alleged that the hoardings had marred the beauty of the road.
