Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) parliamentarians have expressed deep concern over the kidnapping of children and the rising increase of street crimes, which include the snatching of mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar’s governmental vehicle. MQM-P member of Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izharul Hassan showed angriness and criticised the chief minister and his strategies to counter kidnapping of children and robberies in the city. ”Mayor Karachi’s official vehicle, the abduction of secretary of State for Finance Minister Khalid Soomro, and street crime incidents prove that Sindh Police has failed to cope with the situation, proving that metropolis is under unlawfulness ”, said Khawaja Izharul Hassan. Earlier the campaign launched in last month by new Karachi Police Chief Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh to deal with the menace, asking citizens to send their complaints on a WhatsApp number for a prompt action did not prove to be that effective. Moreover, 500 commandos were to be posted at thirty to forty hotspots and 50 mobiles to deal with situation, which is not proving to be effective either. Other lawmakers of MQM-P demanded the Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail to do away with the immense problems surrounding Karachi. Published in Daily Times, September 11th 2018.
