Two female staffers among 79 traffic wardens have been promoted to the rank of inspector during the year in Rawalpindi. Evaluating the performance and seniority of the wardens, 56 traffic wardens were promoted to the rank of inspector in February while 23 more were promoted to the rank of inspector this month. The newly promoted inspectors also included two females – Tahira Kanwal and Noshaba Fayyaz. A ceremony was organised to decorate the recently promoted wardens with their new ranks at Traffic Headquarters, Race Course. While addressing the ceremony, Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Bin Ashraf said, now the duties of the newly promoted wardens have increased. “I extend my heartiest congratulation to the wardens,” he said and also advised the wardens to behave politely with citizens and commuters. Central Police Officer Abbas Ahsan also spoke on the occasion and hailed the service of traffic wardens. “I am thankful to my seniors and colleagues for their continuous support. As inspector, I will serve the people with more dedication, commitment and honesty,” Tahira Kanwal said while talking exclusively to Daily Times, adding that female traffic wardens play a crucial role in the smooth flow of traffic on city roads. A contingent of about 25 females is working in the city traffic police team on different posts, but “we have never faced any discrimination from our seniors or colleagues while performing our duties”, she added. Among the 23 newly promoted traffic wardens are Muhammad Junaid, Nasir Mahmood, Sher Dil Khan, Imran Safdar Mughal, Humayun Mahmood, Naveed Qadir, Muhammad Nadeem Riaz, Hasnain Altaf Malik, Adnan Shaukat, Khurram Shahzad, Kamran Siddique, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Asghar Mahmood, Muhammad Ashiq, Muhammad Zulqarnain, Nadeem Abbas, Fahim Akhtar, Muhammad Irfan, Khurram Nazir, Imran Khan, Muhammad Yasir and Syed Atif Ali.
