
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday visited Russian mountaineer Alexander Gukov at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi.
Gukov was rescued by Pak Army aviators from 20650 feet high Latok Peak in Pakistani Northern Areas this morning through a very challenging aviation effort.
The Russian mountaineer was stranded at the glacier since 25th July and all seven rescue attempts had failed. However, the Army Aviation team rescued the mountaineer who was trapped at a height of 20,650 ft.
The Russian climber, in a video message, thanked Pakistan Army for rescuing him.

It is to be noted that this was the first rescue operation conducted by the aviation team at such height.
