KARACHI: The officials at the Board of Revenue (BoR) have started issuing fresh letters allegedly to hush up their unlawful activities, continuing despite ban, it is learnt. Few days earlier, the Daily Times had pinpointed irregularities in the Board of Revenue for illegal leases of lands on fake signatures in which the lower grade employee leased out four acres of land with fake signatures of Senior Member Board of Revenue. According to sources, stenographer, Badar Mangrio, in connivance with his Section Officer, Yar Muhammad Bozdar, issued an intimation letter for four acres precious government land situated in district Malir to a private person namely Illahi Bux in return of heavy bribes. The intimation letter issued by the Board of Revenue contained fake signatures of Senior Member Board of Revenue, who is also Chief Secretary Sindh Rizwan Memon. The sources further disclosed that the stenographer issued the intimation letter in Deh Kathor of Malir district without getting it verified from the Treasury office. The law clearly states that the intimation letter for lease of land shall be issued with proper verification from the Treasury Branch of the Revenue Department. Interestingly, Section Officer I Yar Muhammad Bozdar is also illegally using authority of SO VI which is supposed to lease lands for establishing wind power projects. SO VI Mir Laiq Ali was transferred from the Board of Revenue some six months ago however the illegal practices in leasing out lands are yet continuing without any check, sources said. “The Supreme Court of Pakistan has already banned all kind of leases, sub leases, transfers of state land few months ago however the powerful officials of the Board of Revenue are continuously violating the apex court’s orders”, sources said.
