LARKANA: The Larkana Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tanveer Tunio on Tuesday took a notice of increased crime rate in the Islamic month of Ramazan and dismissed 124 ASIs, police constables while suspending another 42 police officers.
Reportedly, the dismissed officers did not respond quickly to the calls made by the victims.
Consequently, police officers need to be vigilant while performing their respective duties.
The SSP further issued warning to all station house officers (SHOs) of the district’s police stations.
“Concerned SHO will be held accountable for any crime that occurs in his jurisdiction and negligence will not be tolerated,” SSP maintained.
The dismissed officers include ASIs Ghulam Akbar, Khan Muhammad, Constables Wali Muhammad, Nadir Ali, Roshan Ali, Hyder Ali, Akhtar Ali and others while suspended officers include ASIs Abdul Jabar, Abdul Khalique, Ali Gul, Constables Fida Hussain, Amanullah, Azhar Ali, Imtiaz Ali and others.
Activists seek recovery of ‘missing’ persons
Activists of many political, social welfare organisations and nationalist parties on Tuesday participated in the ongoing three-day hunger strike held in front of Larkana Press Club for recovery of missing persons.
Reportedly, Sindh National Party, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), Awami Tehreek, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party, Awami Raj Party, Communist Party, Awami Workers Party and others participated in the hunger strike.
“We have sent a message to the world that we are law abiding citizens by protesting peacefully for our fundamental rights,” they said while talking to the media.
They criticised the ‘illegal abduction’ of journalists, writers, poets and political workers and called it a gross violation of human rights. “The abductees must be recovered and produced before the court of law for a fair trial,” the protesters maintained while adding that if democratic norms are to be practised in the country, then the matter falls within the jurisdiction of the court of law.
Importantly, they appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to order an immediate recovery of the missing persons. Besides, civil society also participated in the protest.
