ISLAMABAD: There were 29 terrorist attacks across Pakistan in the month of April 2018 including three suicide blasts in Baluchistan province, according to the monthly security report issued by a think-tank, Pakistan Institute of Peace Studies (PIPS) on Monday. The report showed that the attacks claimed 44 lives as compared to 37 in March and left 98 others injured. Of the 44 killed in terrorist attacks, 22 were civilians, 16 were security personnel, and law enforcers and six militants, whereas, the injured included 47 civilians and 51 security personnel. The report further noted that 18 attacks exclusively targeted security and law enforcers marking 62 percent of the attacks. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its associated groups remained the most potent threat, the report considered, carrying out 19 attacks of the total that killed 31 people while injuring 92. Balochistan nationalist-insurgent groups launched six attacks that claimed seven lives. Four sectarian conflicts claimed six lives while injuring two others. The highest number of terrorist attacks for any one region of the country was reported from Balochistan where 15 attacks had been reported including three suicide attacks. The attacks claimed the lives of 34 people and injured 39 others. Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) sustained eight terrorist attacks, killing nine people while injuring 46 others. Six attacks were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) including five in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan. The attacks killed one soldier and injured 13 others.
