Sir: If you are a citizen of Karachi you probably encounter a horrid traffic jam every morning regardless of which road you’re on. Choked traffic is the biggest problem facing our city. Our roads simply do not have the capacity to cater to the number of vehicles that are driven on them on a daily basis. The ongoing construction at various points is only making things worse. Since there is no room for alternate routes, people are forced to travel on roads while they are under construction! The impatience this causes for drivers motivates them to break traffic rules, and exacerbate the situations. Motorcyclists, rickshaws and bus drivers are the most at fault here. Students are the most distressed since they seem to be getting late for their classes everyday. Should an ambulance get stuck in one of these jams, the patient’s life is put in serious jeopardy. The city’s citizens are incredibly stressed out, since they have to commute for hours to get back home after a tiring day at work. M ALTAMASH ASLAM Karachi Published in Daily Times, May 15th 2018.
