Police receives accreditation over solving Saima Jarwar’s murder

Published on: May 5, 2018 2:36 AM

LARKANA: The provincial home minister Suhail Anwar Siyal on Friday appreciated the Larkana police for their efforts to resolve the case of nine-year-old Saima Jarwar.

During his talk to the media, he offered condolences to the bereaved family. He suggested a capital punishment for the accused.

He revealed that the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Sindh High Court (SHC) took notice of Saima’s murder. He appealed them to resolve the case immediately to prevent such incidents in the future.

Siyal said that during his tenure, he sent a request to the minister of information technology for approving the installation of CCTV cameras in Larkana but no approval was sent.

He presented a cheque of Rs5,000,00 to the family of Saima which they gave to the Larkana police in appreciation of their efforts in resolving the case.

Meanwhile, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Abdullah Shaikh claimed that the accused confessed the crime. They told the police that they took Saima at the house of Waqar Mughal where they tried to sexually abuse her but she resisted and cried. They strangulated her by putting a cloth at her mouth and nose.

Thereafter, they threw her body into a pond.

First information report (FIR) was lodged on the application of her father Nasim Jarwar.

The DIG revealed that blood, hair and nails have been sent to the laboratory for DNA tests.

Moreover, two witnesses had identified the accused.

The police arrested 27 suspects for the investigation. He claimed that geo-fencing has played a key role to solve the case.

He said that the inspector general of police (IGP) announced a reward of two lakhs for the investigation team.

Meanwhile, relatives of Waqar Mughal held a demonstration outside the office of DIG to demand his release when DIG was addressing a press conference. They tried to forcibly enter into his office but the police stopped them.

Saima and Reema Mughal, the sisters of Waqar Mughal, said that the police arrested their brother from their house and tortured him to confess the crime.

They appealed CJP to ensure an independent investigation into the matter.
