The government has intensified negotiations with the Pakistan Peoples Party to secure its support for Budget 2026-27, as differences between coalition partners continue to delay final agreement. A special committee has been formed to address outstanding concerns and build consensus on key financial and political issues ahead of parliamentary approval.
During recent consultations, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Governor of Sindh and senior parliamentary leaders reviewed the PPP’s reservations regarding the federal budget. Officials also discussed broader governance matters, including law and order challenges, as both sides explored options to reduce tensions and strengthen cooperation within the coalition setup.
Participants in the meetings focused on developing a workable mechanism to ensure implementation of PPP’s key demands. Both sides agreed on continued dialogue as a preferred approach, while efforts were made to identify mutually acceptable solutions that would allow the budget process to move forward without political disruption.
According to sources, a high-level delegation is expected to meet PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari after receiving assurances from the federal government. The meeting is considered important in shaping the party’s final position on budget support and in determining the stability of the ruling alliance.
The ongoing consultations highlight the government’s efforts to secure wider political backing for the budget before its formal approval in parliament. Negotiators remain engaged in discussions, aiming to balance PPP’s concerns with fiscal priorities and ensure smooth passage of the financial plan.
As talks continue, both sides appear committed to maintaining dialogue and avoiding a breakdown in cooperation. However, the outcome of upcoming meetings will play a decisive role in determining whether the budget gains full coalition support or faces further political delays.
