KHAIRPUR: At least five children died on Tuesday due to an outbreak of highly contagious measles across the region of Khairpur.
According to a report, the virus has spread across the province and claimed the lives of dozens of children due to lack of health facilities.
Three children of a labourer, Moro Mengwar, died at Rajanpur village while others, belonging to nearby villages, are suffering from the deadly disease. Villagers claimed that the health department had not provided treatment to the affected children.
Meanwhile, the medical superintendent (MS) of a local hospital Dr Mumtaz Dahar said that teams were sent to the affected villages for vaccinating the children.
Two children, three-year-old Alisha and eight-month-old Sameen, died in the village of Amanullah Jagirani due to measles. The villagers pleaded with the health department to treat the affected children.
