NAUNDERO: A fire engulfed 15 houses on Monday as a fire cracker hit a makeshift house in Rahooja village.
All valuables of the affected villagers were burnt to ashes, leaving them under open sky. Meanwhile, no government or district administration official tried to deliver support to them.
Reportedly, the villagers tried to extinguish the fire using water from a hand pump but all in vain.
The Naundero fire brigade arrived at the village after one hour and extinguished the fire. They shifted the children, women and cattle to a safe place. The affected villagers told the media that children were exploding firecrackers outside their homes when a house caught fire. Despite informing the elected representatives, no one came to inquire about their sufferings. They claimed loss of millions as food grains were also burnt. They demanded reconstruction of their houses and financial aid.
