Sir: Psychological abuse of a child is a pattern of intentional verbal or behavioural actions or lack of actions that convey to a child the message that he or she is worthless, flawed, unloved, unwanted, endangered, or only of value to meet someone else’s needs. Withholding emotional support, isolation, or terrorizing a child are forms of psychological abuse. Domestic violence that is witnessed by a child is also considered a form of psychological abuse. Surprisingly psychological or emotional abuse of a child can have more long lasting negative effects than physical or sexual abuse. Children are psychological abuse in many ways like to reject them, to make them feel worthless, refuse to help them, to insult them in front of everyone, to isolate them, to ignore his emotional needs, to hurt their feelings, to don’t feel them safe, to say abusive words to them. These things definitely make a child mentally disturbed. Due to this they have to face a lot of problems in school, they feel scared every time; they face emotional issues like depression, anxiety and also problems of sleeping disorder. We just don’t have look upon a sexually abuse we also have to look after a psychological abuse of child. People should look after their children physically as well as psychologically.
