Sir: I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards a pathetic condition of Allama Daud Pota Library Hyderabad. This library is one of the sources for students to enhance their knowledge and creativity. But due to mismanagement and lethargic attitudes of authority, a very large number of students are facing problems while learning. First and the most severe issue faced by readers is the lack of sitting capacity and unavailability of light during load shedding. The administration of the library has been failed to manage a comfortable environment for readers. Students sit outside the library due to the shortage of study tables and hotness inside the building, even some of them go back to their home. Majority of ACs, fans and lights do not work. The timing of UPS is in between 30 to 45 minutes. There is no standby generator as an alternative to load shedding, though it is very common public and private institutions nowadays Similarly, the environment of the library is unhygienic. The bathrooms are very dirty so no can even take breathe easily inside it. Washbasins, taps and door lock of washroom are not functional. The muddy scenario of library further makes it more unpleasant. The hands and clothes become dirty while dusting tables and chairs. Likewise, the attitude of library administration is lethargic, and their behaviour towards reader is unwelcoming. A few of them even gossips each other loudly in the reading hall. Moreover, the process of book issuance is time taking. So, students face problem to get benefit from book collections of the library. Finally, I would like to request the Minister and Secretary of Culture Department-Government of Sindh, to whom domain library comes, to take this matter into their consideration, and fix all above-mentioned issues at their earliest INSAF SHAIKH Hyderabad Published in Daily Times, April 15th 2018.
