LAHORE: Four people reported dead in a house fire on Saturday night were apparently murdered before the house was deliberately set on fire, according to the post-mortem report issued by the hospital. Satto Kutla police said on Sunday that with the availability of the post mortem report the investigating team looking into the mysterious murder of a couple and their two young children in Wapda Town would now expand its scope and look for the culprits involved. The initial post mortem report said that throats of both the children were slashed. A sharp weapon was used to cut Amina and Sher Ali’s throat, while their mother Saba was strangled to death. The children’s unemployed father, Sarfaraz, died due to burning. The relatives of the victims’ family had protested against the incident upon which police registered the case and assured them the incident would be probed in accordance with the law. Earlier reports based on the statements of the owner of the house in which the family was living suggested that the premises caught fire, killing the family. “Our neighbours informed us that the room on our roof had caught fire,” he told the media. “Sarfaraz [the deceased] was unemployed and was staying in a servant quarter with his family,” said SP Saddar Town Adil Memon.
