LAHORE: A case against Wednesday’s unfortunate Raiwind suicide attack has been registered on Thursday at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
The case has been registered under the terrorism and murder section of the CTD. The First Investigation Report (FIR) revealed that four suspicious individuals were party to this targeted attack on the police check-post outside a religious congregation on Raiwind Road. Upon being stopped for checking by the police, three of the suspects fled and the fourth one exploded his suicide jacket.
The blast took away nine precious lives and over twenty people were wounded. The injured are under treatment at Jinnah Hospital and Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ).
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Wing Dr Haider Ashraf informed that as a result of the target attack, two sub-inspectors and three constables lost their lives while serving their nation. Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Station House Officer (SHO) and two other policemen were injured in the incident.
The police believe that the attacks have been carried out just before Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) cricket match in Lahore to arouse fear among the people, recalling that such a tactic had been applied the previous year as well.
