Published on: February 11, 2018 5:30 AM

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday detained a facilitator of the terror attack on Peshawar’s Agricultural Directorate in which nine people were killed and thirty eight others injured. According to CTD, the man identified as Muhammad Yasir was taken into custody near Larma camp and belongs to Bajaur Agency.

The arrested suspect has been shifted to undisclosed location and is being interrogated.

In a joint operation on December 1, security forces killed all the terrorists, who opened fire at the Agriculture Directorate located in front of Peshawar University. At least nine were killed with 38 injured as five burqa-clad terrorists stormed the building and resorted to intermittent firing. Both police and military officials said the attackers had been coordinating with handlers based in Afghanistan.

Separately, a huge cache of ammunition and weaponry was recovered from Dera Murad Jamali area of the District Nasirabad of Balochistan province during ongoing Operation Raddul Fasaad.

According to the ISPR, Frontier Corps conducted a raid on a tip-off in Sherani area of Dera Murad Jamali.

“A huge cache of ammunition, weaponry, mobile SIMs, communication equipment was recovered during the action. However, no arrests were made during the process. The security forces cordoned off the area in search of the fleeing miscreants,” the ISPR said.

On February 6, FC Balocistan carried out a raid on a tip off in Afghan refugee camp and arrested 11 suspicious people along with recovery of explosive material and weaponry.

On December 11, the Frontier Corp apprehended six terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during different intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan.

Explosives, arms and ammunition including anti-personal mines, detonators, communications equipment were recovered during the IBOs conducted in Rustam Darbar, Dera Bugti, and Killi Deba areas of the province.
