ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Sunday issued the schedule of Senate election for the federal capital, which will be held on March 3. According to the notification, the commission has called upon the members of the National Assembly to elect to the Senate one member each against general seat and the seat reserved for technocrat including Ulema from the federal capital. It said these new members will be elected in place of the members of the Senate who are due to retire after the expiration of their term of office on March 11, 2018. It said the public notice by returning officer inviting the candidates about acquiring and submission of nomination papers would be issued on February 5. The last date for filing of nomination papers by the candidates with the returning officer will be February 10, between 0900 hours and 1600 hours. The last date for publication of names of the nominated candidates would be February 11. The last date for scrutiny of nomination papers would be February 13, from 1000 hours to 1600 hours while the last date for filling of appeals against acceptance or rejection of nominations will be February 16, from 0900 hours to 1600 hours. The last date for disposal of appeals by the tribunal will be February 19, while the last date for publication of revised list of candidates would be February 20. The last date for withdrawal of candidature would be February 21, between 0900 hours and 1600 hours.The polling time would be from 0900 hours to 1600 hours on March 3, while places of polling would be Parliament House, Islamabad.
