LAHORE: Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in its four and a half year tenure had set new examples of public service, honesty and hard work.
Talking to a delegation of the PML-N which called on him, the CM said that the tenure of the present government was the most transparent in the 70-year history of the country.
“We have set records of public service. On the other side, the defeated elements have set records of falsehood, mendacity and U-turns. The leader of sit-ins group has spoiled his credibility in the public by speaking lies at every occasion,” he said.
He said that the so-called claimant of change continuously indulged in criticism for the sake of criticism and baseless allegations. “One has to spend a lifetime to serve the masses and the process of change cannot be ensured through hollow-sloganeering and consistent public service is required for bringing change at the grassroots,” he said.
The chief minister said that the economy had been ruined during the previous tenures due to the energy crisis. “Besides this, the industrial and agricultural sectors have also been devastated due to negligence and inefficiency of the past rulers. During the previous tenure of Pakistan People’s Party, national resources were looted ruthlessly by the past rulers, who are totally drenched in corruption,” he said.
“On the one side, there are past rulers whose only identity is loot and plunder and on the other side, there are defeated elements that are speaking lies. The defeated elements, as well as the plunderers, cannot compete with our record of public service and prodigious performance,” he said.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the government was working day and night to remove the darkness of load-shedding from the country. “Those who have done the politics of allegations, hypocrisy and falsehood have no right to represent the public,” he said.
He said that public welfare projects had been completed with hard work. “National resources have been utilised for the welfare of the masses by treating them as a sacred trust of the people. The Punjab government has taken revolutionary steps for the welfare of different sectors including healthcare and education,” he said.
“Our every step is aimed at bringing prosperity and it is noteworthy that hundreds of thousands people daily use metro bus service for reaching their destinations. Meanwhile, Orange Line Metro Train project is nearing completion. Billions of rupees have been saved by promoting transparency in development projects,” he said.
“People will definitely hold these elements accountable that are involved in negative politics, sit-ins and falsehood. That is why, these elements are afraid of facing the public now,” he said.
The chief minister said that elements creating hurdles in the way of national development would be fully countered. “If an opportunity is accorded to serve the people again after the election 2018, the looted money of the nation will be retrieved and both the parties will be defeated with the support of the public in general elections. The PML-N will further expedite the journey of public service with renewed vigor,” he said.
