LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday disposed of 40,000 liters of contaminated milk during a crackdown throughout the province on Sunday. Special dairy safety teams of PFA, working under the supervision of veterinary specialists, held screening tests on the entry and exit points of 144 tehsils of 36 districts of the Punjab simultaneously. According to PFA, teams seized 9,000 liters of adulterated of milk in Lahore, 16,000 liters in Gujranwala, 1,820 liters in Bahawalpur, 1,700 liters in Multan, 380 liters in Khanewal, 1,388 liters in Dera Ghazi Khan, 7,000 liters in Faisalabad and Sahiwal divisions and 560 liters in Vehari and Bhawalnagar. The milk was later discarded. PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal said that hundreds of thousands liters milk was consumed by people, hotels and restaurants in Punjab on daily basis that was not safe for health.
