LAHORE: Three employees of the Punjab Institute of Mental Health were injured on Tuesday in a cylinder blast. According to details, two small gas cylinders exploded after a fire erupted in the building. The blast sparked panic among the patients, doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. After being informed, police and rescue teams reached the spot and immediately started a rescue operation. The three injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Rescuers put out the fire after hectic efforts. PIMHD Executive Director Dr Nasir Bhatti said that the gas connection at newly-constructed addiction centre of Punjab Institute of Mental Health was being checked by the employees when the explosion occurred. He claimed that the fire was immediately brought under control by the hospital employees and the injured were sent to the Jinnah Hospital through Rescue 1122 service.
