CM reviews Christmas, Quaid-e-Azam Day security

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting on Saturday to review law and order situation in the province.

He also reviewed security arrangements put in place for ceremonies to be held in the city in connection with Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day on Monday (tomorrow).

The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure foolproof security on for Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas celebrations. He said the security plan made regarding Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas should be implemented strictly. “No negligence will be tolerated. The protection of life and property of citizens is a top priority. Special attention should be paid to security of churches, markets, bazaars and parks,” he said.

The police force to be deployed in the city can be increased if needed, he said.

“Our enemies want to create unrest in the country and we should remain alert to foil their evil designs,” he said, adding that effective monitoring of the security plan prepared for the Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas should be ensured.

He said police officers should stay in the field and take every possible step to protect life and property of the citizens.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the terrorist attack in Mohmand Agency. He expressed his grief over the tragic incident that led to the martyrdom of three security officials and conveyed his condolences to the families of the martyrs.

“The security officials sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Those who sacrifice their lives for the motherland are heroes and the whole nation is proud of them. In this hour, we extend our solidarity to the families of the martyrs,” he said.
