ISLAMABAD: Investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a direct path towards poverty alleviation and financial inclusiveness, Chairperson BISP Marvi Memon said on Saturday. With improved standards of efficiency, transparency and service delivery, BISP is not only contributing in the financial and educational betterment of its beneficiaries but also in nutrition, health and empowerment, she told a huge gathering of BISP beneficiaries. Tehmina Daultana, MNA from PML (N), MPA Farhat Mansoor, MPA Mian Saqib Khurshid and District Chairman Pir Ghulam Mohayyuddin Chishti were also present on the occasion. During her interaction with beneficiaries, BISP chairperson informed them that to overcome the difficulty in using ATM by beneficiaries, BISP would soon convert the payment mechanism to Biometric Verification System (BVS) which would enable them to withdraw their stipends through verification of their CNICs and thumb impressions She said that in order to expand the outreach of BISP and to include more deserving people in the programme, BISP would start resurvey within three months along with the rest of the country. She urged the political leadership and administration to coordinate with BISP survey teams to make resurvey a success. The minister, while commenting on political situation, stated that PML-N would soon be out of the current storm and would also win 2018 elections. She added that PML-N was a party which recognises the services of its workers. She said that MNA Tehmina Daultana was her role model and she had learnt a lot from her. Speaking on the occasion, MNA Tehmina Daultana stated that she was proud of Marvi Memon whose secret of success was her humbleness. She praised the chairperson for her untiring efforts for the betterment of beneficiaries in the whole of the country. She added that PML-N would keep on working for the poor people and would also continue its development projects. MPA Farhat Mansoor stated that PML-N would clinch 2018 elections.
