Pakistan cricketer Imran’s father recovers, back home from hospital

LAHORE: Pakistan cricketer Imran Farhat’s father, Farhat Hussain Siddique, has recovered from illness and is back home after being operated upon at Shaukat Khanam Cancer Hospital here the other day. Siddique had a very serious laser operation of his liver under the supervision of the competent doctors of SKMT. SKMT chief medical officer Dr Muhammad Asim Yousaf was the head of the team that operated upon Siddique. Siddiqui has thanked all those who prayed for his early recovery. Known as Farhat Sports Family, Siddique’s only daughter Maria Farhat and his sisters Abida Jabeen, Azra Jabeen, Iffat Jabeen and Arifa Jabeen were international women hockey players. His sons Imran and Hamyun Farhat are famous Pakistan cricketers. Siddique is the senior physical educationist and remained outstanding athlete in cricket, hockey, table tennis, football, badminton. He brought many laurels for his country. He is the only referee and umpire appointed by the Asian Games Committee at New Delhi, India. Siddique is also a former chief coach of Pakistan badminton team. He is also one of the pioneers of women’s cricket, women’s hockey and baseball in Pakistan. Farhat also remained coach, manager of the Pakistan Universities and Punjab University during his tenure at Law College as Director of Sports. He coached many Punjab University Law College students who later became judges of High Court and Supreme Court, District Judiciary, renowned lawyers and famous politicians and even high police officials. The present Principal of the Punjab University Law College, Dr Shazia Noureen Qureshi, has great regard for Siddique and organised many sports events including Annual Sports with the help of Siddiqui.
